SUMMARY:Nashua - Holiday Stroll Luminaria
DESCRIPTION:Nashua’s 24th Annual Winter Holiday Stroll \nThe event takes place each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving; and although it started small\, it has steadily grown through the years. \nThe Stroll is recognized as the largest community event of the year in Southern New Hampshire. Each year\, over 30\,000 people from across New England visit downtown Nashua to enjoy this free and family-friendly holiday event. The evening kicks off at 5 p.m. with a candlelit procession up Main Street from City Hall to Railroad Square where the City’s official Christmas tree is lit. Much of the downtown is closed to traffic for the evening\, so even after the tree lighting Strollers can enjoy the live entertainment\, sample offerings from street vendors\, dine in downtown’s fine restaurants and Shop Small at our unique specialty shops and boutiques. \nHoliday Stroll Luminaria – Share A Light of Hope for the World from Our Welcoming City during the Holiday Stroll this Year \nThis year at the Holiday Stroll\, One Greater Nashua offers you the opportunity to shine a light of hope for the world by purchasing a “luminaria” in honor or memory of your loved ones who immigrated to Nashua\, or another place in the US\, and contributed to our prosperity. Decorating the streets with luminaria is a Spanish-inspired holiday tradition\, popular in many parts of the world. \nYou can purchase a luminaria – a battery-operated tribute candle placed in a white bag – for a $3.00 donation online\, or at the Stroll at 147 Main Street. Your candle\, with the name of the person you are honoring\, will be placed along the RiverWalk\, and it will be visible during the Holiday Stroll from the bridge on Main Street. Supplies will be available at the event for those who wish to decorate their own luminaria.\nProceeds from the tributes will be used to defray legal costs for our neighbors who are newly resettled in Nashua\, such as refugees and immigrants currently seeking permanent resident status and citizenship. \nAs members of the community\, we recognize that we are blessed. From our beginnings\, we have thrived because of our value of diversity\, ingenuity\, and collaboration. These shared values have forged among us a strong community bond as greater Nashuans. In the Gate City\, our prosperity has flourished through our openness and willingness to welcome newcomers who bring new ideas\, innovations\, and traditions\, which we embrace with mutual respect. \n
