DESCRIPTION:Dates: October 23\, 24\, 25\, 28\, 29 \n(Wednesday\, Thursday\, Friday\, followed by Monday and Tuesday.) \nTimes: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM Each of 5 Days \nTaught by: NH Health & Equity Partnership \nClick HERE to register \nWho is this course for? \n\nProfessionals who want:\n\nto start or enhance cultural competency initiatives in their organizations\nto include proven cultural competency training as part of their curriculum\nto understand how to design and deliver a quality cultural competency program\n\n\nNew and experienced diversity and cultural competency trainers who want:\n\nto enhance their facilitation skills for potentially difficult conversations\nto participate in a statewide network of cultural competency trainers\n\n\nParticipants who completed the New Hampshire Health & Equity Partnership’s Diversity & Cultural Competence workshop (participation recommended\, not required)\n\nWhat you’ll get from taking this course \n\nReceive a pre-packaged\, effective\, and time tested cultural competency curriculum to deliver right out of the box.\nShare ideas for how to incorporate the curriculum into existing courses and/or meetings.\nDevelop strategies for delivering Cultural Competency training in your institution.\nLearn strategies to evaluate your training program.\nHave multiple opportunities to apply information during the training sessions.\nParticipate in engaging activities to deepen your understanding of the content.\nExperience various training techniques: participative lectures\, small groups\, large group discussions\, individual work\, and skill practice.\nLearn tips and tricks for handling\n\ncomplex content\ndifficult participants\nuncomfortable discussions\nunexpected interactions\n\n\nReceive an in-depth instructional cultural competency facilitator reference guide.\n\nCourse Description: \nThis course is a five-day training divided into two parts: three eight-hour days in one week\, followed by two eight-hour days during a second week. This is 40 hours of high quality. You must attend all 40 hours to receive your certificate. \nCost: $1000 per participant \n\nPayment must be received to reserve your spot\n100% reimbursement if we are notified of cancellation at least 30 days prior to Day 1 of training\n50% reimbursement if we are notified of cancellation at least seven days prior to Day 1 of training\nNo reimbursement for cancellation notice that is fewer than seven days\n\nImportant Info: By registering\, you are confirming your commitment to attend all 40 hours of training offered through this program. . In addition you are confirming your commitment to (1)provide at least one training within 12 months of completing the initial 40-hour course maintaining curriculum fidelity\, and (2)participate in a trainers’ circle (peer network) with others who have completed this course at a minimum of two times per year the first year; on-going participation is recommended. This is intended as a support to you as you incorporate knowledge from the workshop into curriculum and offer programs to staff. A Commitment Form will be sent to you with your registration confirmation asking for a signature from your supervisor to show their support for you to take the time for the training as well as their support for you to create change at your organization through using the knowledge\, skills\, and materials learned through the course.

DESCRIPTION:IMMIGRATION 101  \nTuesday\, October 29\, 2019  \n7 – 8:30 P.M. \nFirst Church\, Nashua \n1 Concord Street\nNashua\, New Hampshire \nThe Pathway To Citizenship Is Not Easy \nThe First Church is hosting a program sponsored by The NH Alliance of Immigrants and Refugees and the Granite State Organizing Project on the topic of immigration policy\, the history of immigration in the U.S. and our current situation. \nTopics include: \n\nCurrent history of immigration in New Hampshire and the United States\nThe role of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement & Border Patrol in NH\nThe stories of those affected here in New Hampshire\nHow to stay informed and active regarding immigration issues\nAnswers to questions you have about immigration policies\n\nWe seek to increase our knowledge and awareness so that we can informed citizens engaged in making our communities stronger\, healthier and safer. \nPrimary Presenter Eva Castillo: \nA native of Caracas\, Venezuela\, Eva Castillo has a long history of working with and advocating for immigrants. In 1984\, Eva moved to New Hampshire\, where she worked first at the NE Farm Workers Council\, and later as at the Latin American Center in Manchester. She joined MIRA in 2007 as Director of the “NH Alliance for Immigrants and Refugees.” Eva’s tireless work to support immigrants with workers’ rights education\, medical and legal interpreting and immigrant rights advocacy has granted her the community. Eva served as Police Commissioner in Manchester for six years and sits on the board or steering committees of several NH organizations and Government Councils. \nEva will be joined by staff from the Granite State Organizing Project (GSOP)\, the convener of the NH Immigrant Solidarity Network\, who will share information about ways to get involved.
