DESCRIPTION:How do you support foreign-born students and bring immigration into the classroom particularly during times of crisis? Immigrant and refugee students of all ages have been disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the rise in anti-immigrant sentiment. Learn how to support immigrant students\, combat anti-immigrant sentiment and center the immigrant voice across the curriculum in the free online workshop 2021 Immigrant Student Success: Strategies and Tools for K-12 and Adult Educators on July 7 and 8\, 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM EDT.   \n\nHosted by The Immigrant Learning Center’s Public Education Institute and featuring experts from across the nation\, participants will learn from presentations\, group chats\, interactive activities and discussions with speakers how to:  \n\n\nIntegrate immigrant stories\, voices\, history and culture into curriculum and teaching practices \nIncorporating trauma-informed and socio-ecological approaches to teaching \nCombat racism\, specifically anti-Asian and anti-immigrant sentiment \nLearn what to expect in the post-pandemic classroom \nReflect upon the role of the teacher in the development of immigrant students\n\n\n\nRegister Now\n\n\nThis free online workshop is for teachers\, librarians\, administrators\, volunteers\, social workers\, community leaders and others interested in bringing immigration into the K-12 and adult classroom.
