SUMMARY:Combating Hate Crimes in NH
DESCRIPTION:Hate Crimes are happening more and more often\, both the victims and the community often feel not enough is happening and that they aren’t being heard. \nWe’ll hear from two panels on this and what we can do.  The first panel will give us an opportunity to hear in depth\, what goes on within Law Enforcement and the Legal system that can lead to this impression.  Such matters as protecting everyone’s first amendment rights and the difference between a Hate Crime and a Hate Incident will be discussed.  The second panel will address what what we can\, and what we need to do in our communities to address these rising hate crimes.  The second panel will include experts from the ACLU\, immigration advocacy and the media. \nThe Keynote speaker will be John Formella\, Attorney General\, NH Department of Justice.  The two Panels will be moderated by; Sean Locke\, Director of NH Dept of Justice\, Civil Rights Unit and the second panel will be moderated by Ahni Malachi\, Executive Director of NH Commission for Human Rights. \nThis program is being brought to you by the NH Department of Safety\, NH Dept of Justice\, Office of the Attorney General\, US Attorney’s Office; District of NH\, FBI\, NH Commission for Human Rights\, Local Law Enforcement In collaboration with the NH Alliance of Immigrants and Refugees\, Welcoming NH\, American Friends Service Committee\, NH ACLU\, and other community groups and individuals. \nThursday\, October 5\, 8:30 – 12:30\n.\nRegister at https://forms.office.com/g/ZhcNw1GubU \nNH Fire Academy\,\n98 Smokey Bear Boulevard\,\nConcord  NH 03301\nQuestions contact Assistant Commissioner Eddie Edwards\, Eddie.Edwards@DOS.NH.GOV\nFlyer PDF:NEW-Hate Crime Seminar flyer
