SUMMARY:Manchester - Faith March for Black Lives
DESCRIPTION:The Greater Manchester Clergy Association joins with NAACP and community groups in FAITH MARCH FOR BLACK LIVES. \nThe Greater Manchester Clergy Association (GMCA) is drawn from clergy/laity around the City of Manchester. As leaders of communities of faith and hope\, we believe that it is imperative to bring a religious perspective to the national debate on race and justice. We mourn with African Americans\, and we join with them in demanding change. We are inheritors of prophetic traditions that teach us not only “to let justice well up like water and righteousness as an unfailing stream” [Amos 5:24]\, but that we are ALL our Brothers’ and Sisters’ Keepers\, and we cannot stand idle while our neighbors bleed. We believe that each and every human being is created in the Divine Image\, and all are deserving of respect. We cannot allow different treatment under law to continue for people of color. We share a moral call to pray and to act to bring about a world where each and every person can sit under his or her vine and fig-tree\, in security\, in comfort and in peace. \nTo transmit our concern for the spiritual wellbeing of our community and nation\, we have joined with the NAACP\, the MLK Coalition\, and the Granite State Organizing Project (GSOP) to co-sponsor a march on Saturday\, July 25\, 2020\, two months after the tragic murder of George Floyd\, so that we may pray and act together. Please join us at 6 pm\, in front of the Courthouse\, 35 Amherst Street\, to begin our circuit for justice. We will march: \n· from the Courthouse to City Hall (6:30); \n· to the Corner of Elm and Bridge (7 pm); \n· to Pulaski Park (7:30); \n· back to the Courthouse (8 pm) \nIf you have mobility issues\, please feel free to go to a particular stop\, you need not walk the entire route. \nJoin us to pray with our feet\, to learn from each other\, and to share our hopes and prayers. \nJoin us to remember the lives lost\, and heed the challenge that it is up to us to speak out and stand up for a nation where indeed all men and women\, regardless of race or religion\, skin color or sexual orientation\, enjoy liberty and justice. \nJoin us to do justice\, to love goodness\, and to walk humbly with God. \nAs a gesture of caring\, all participants will be requested to wear a mask or face covering! \nFor More Information: Rev. Barb Brawley\, GMCA President 603-663-2300\nRev. Sarah Rockwell\, GSOP President 603-965-6499 or\nJames McKim\, Manchester NAACP President 603-540-3988

SUMMARY:Online - Ending the Criminalization of Migration
DESCRIPTION:For nearly 20 years\, the U.S. government has prosecuted migration-related offenses in greater numbers than any other type of federal offense in the United States. Most recently\, the Trump administration has used migration-related prosecutions as part of its anti-immigrant policymaking in ways that systematically separate families and violate national and international legal obligations. \nOn Tuesday August 4th\, join us in the National Immigrant Justice Center’s (NIJC) Policy Corner to learn about a year-long investigation into rights violations stemming from prosecutions for unauthorized entry and reentry. Jesse Franzblau\, the lead author of NIJC’s new report about the investigation\, will discuss our research findings on rights violations\, which include the separation of families\, violations of asylum laws and due process protections\, and dehumanizing and racist treatment of migrants. Based on structured interviews\, court observation\, and in-depth analysis of internal government files obtained through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests\, this report moves us closer to decriminalizing migration. \n**NIJC’s Policy Corner are monthly presentations to provide updates on policy matters affecting immigration. These presentations are open to all community members and pro bono attorneys. \nRegister here

SUMMARY:Online - Building Healthy Communities: Covid-19 & Equity in NH
DESCRIPTION:In New Hampshire and across the country\, the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting various communities in different ways. During this webinar\, representatives from the New Hampshire Office of Health Equity (OHE)\, the Division of Public Health Services (DPHS)\, and the Brandeis Institute on Assets and Social Policy (IASP) will share compelling data about the disproportionate impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on New Hampshire’s communities of color. Guest panelists Trinidad Tellez\, MD\, NH Dept. of Health and Human Services’ Director of Office of Health Equity\, Kirsten Durzy\, MPH\, NH DHHS’ Evaluator of Division of Public Health Services\, and Jessica Santos\, PhD\, Brandeis University’s Director of Community-Engaged Research at the Institute on Assets and Social Policy\, will break down the numbers so that we may understand their implications. As the state rebuilds its economy and works to make New Hampshire a safe and welcoming place for all its residents\, building the health of communities impacts the economic health of everyone\, as well as the future economic vitality of the state. \nJoin the discussion and learn why health disparities exist\, how they impact everyone and what we can do as a community to begin to address them so that everyone in New Hampshire has the same opportunity to be healthy and thrive. Presented in partnership with Protect Our Care NH.
