Manchester-Dover: Solidarity Walk for Immigrant Justice
August 21, 2018 - August 25, 2018
FreeFrom Wednesday, August 22 to Saturday, August 25, supporters of humane immigration policies will walk the approximately 40 miles from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in Manchester to the jail in Dover where ICE incarcerates people they intend to deport.
As Father Sam Fuller says, “Our walk will mirror the trip an immigrant who is detained by I.C.E. takes from the Federal Building to the Dover Jail and possible deportation.” By walking this route together in solidarity, we will be taking steps toward a future where human rights are respected, families are able to stay together, and neighbors are able to live free from fear.
From its departure at St. Anne-St. Augustin Church and the Norris Cotton Federal Building in Manchester on Wednesday, August 22, the Solidarity Walk will pass through the towns of Auburn, Candia, Raymond, Epping, Lee, Madbury, and Dover. It will conclude with a prayer service and vigil outside the Stafford County Jail in Dover on Saturday afternoon, August 25.
In addition to walking, we will hold educational programs, open to the public, each evening along the way. More details will be posted here when they are available.
