New Hampshire:

Promising Practices & Lessons from Local Communities – The Endowment for Health and NH’s four Welcoming communities worked with T. L. Hill Group to develop a Promising Practices report that would benefit other coalitions and organizations seeking to strengthen immigrant integration in their communities. This report is a compilation of best practices and lessons from four NH cities – Concord, Laconia, Manchester and Nashua – in their journeys to building local collaboratives and programs committed to immigrant inclusion and success.

Immigration 101 – Immigration 101 explains the current immigration system and the different visa categories, and it explores facts vs. myths about the process of immigrating to the U.S. This presentation is being offered all over the state by Eva Castillo, Director of NH Alliance for Immigrants and Refugees and Welcoming NH. Granite State Organizing Project – GSOP unites religious congregations, labor unions and concerned individuals to positively impact the quality of life in New Hampshire communities.

Active Bystander Training – This two-hour training provides tools and insights to help you respond effectively in situations of biased anger.

NH Immigrant Solidarity Network – People of faith organized through GSOP and allied groups to respond to the fear and anxiety in our community as a result of an increase in immigration enforcement, heightened law enforcement and random acts of hate.

NH Listens – A civic engagement initiative of the Carsey School of Public Policy at the University of New Hampshire whose mission is to help NH residents talk and act together to create communities that work for everyone.

Culturally Effective Organizations – This toolkit aims to provide background and resources for organizations to begin to think about ways to enhance internal systems that promote cultural effectiveness.

American Friends Service Committee – AFSC’s New Hampshire program supports the growth and development of an effective, sustainable New Hampshire peace and justice movement.

New Hampshire Humanities Connections – The adult literacy program Connections brings the best of children’s and young adult literature and New Hampshire Humanities-trained discussion facilitators to more than 500 adult learners each year.

 

National:

Welcoming America – Welcoming America leads a movement of inclusive communities becoming more prosperous by making everyone feel like they belong. We believe that all people, including immigrants, are valued contributors who are vital to the success of our communities and shared future.

Welcoming Economies (WE) Global Network – WE Global Network is comprised of more than thirty regional economic development initiatives from across the Midwest working to tap into the economic development opportunities created by immigrants.

National Partnership for New Americans (NPNA) – NPNA is a national multiethnic, multiracial partnership. NPNA represents the collective power and resources of the country’s 37 largest regional immigrant and refugee rights organizations in 31 states.

New American Economy – New American Economy is a bipartisan research and advocacy organization fighting for smart federal, state, and local immigration policies that help grow our economy and create jobs for all Americans.

USAHello – Free online center for information and education for refugees, asylum seekers, immigrants and welcoming communities. Includes information on Immigration, Citizenship, Life in the USA, Education, Work, Health and more.

Cultural Orientation Resource Center – COR Center’s mission is to increase awareness regarding the likely characteristics and needs of incoming refugee groups, as well as to facilitate culturally and linguistically appropriate orientation training for these newcomers to the United States.

The Tent Foundation – Tent works with businesses, nonprofits, governments, & multilateral organizations to spur private sector action in response to the global refugee crisis. Tent works closely with businesses to help them identify and understand opportunities to help refugees.

National Immigration Forum – The National Immigration Forum advocates for the value of immigrants and immigration to our nation.

 

Resources For Educators

Teaching Tolerance – Provides free resources to educators — teachers, administrators, counselors and other practitioners — who work with children from kindergarten through high school. Resources here help teachers and schools educate children and youth to be active participants in a diverse democracy.

Re-Imagining Migration – Provides resources and supports that prepare educators and institutions to respond to the demands of changing demographics associated with human migration flows in the US and beyond.

Share My Lesson – For educators who dedicate their time and professional expertise to provide the best education for students everywhere. Members contribute content, share ideas and get educated on the topics that matter.

        Teaching About Race & Racism (Share My Lesson) – PreK-12 race and racism lesson plans, activities and resources to help students and communities critically address these topics.
