Exeter – Stigma Across Cultures, a Cultural Effectiveness Training

FreeCultural Effectiveness Training for all members of the Healthcare Team
Many people in need of Mental Health or Substance Use services do not access services. This session will look at language, attitudes, and behaviors that clients encounter and community messaging about MH and SUD. What does culture have to do with not accessing services? What is a micro-aggression? What does “Othering” mean? Hear from several community voices during this engaging training.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify three or more demographic groups and at least one way in which each group has experienced difficulty approaching MH or SUD services
- Discuss the impact of societal stigma and stereotyping on MH and SUD clients
- Apply best practices using client cases
Target Audience:
All members of your practice team, including medical assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, registered dietitians, physicians, physician assistants, social workers, and administrative staff.
