This training is designed to help professionals who want:
- to start or enhance cultural competency initiatives in their organizations
- to include proven cultural competency training as part of their curriculum
- to understand how to design and deliver a quality cultural competency program
And also diversity and cultural competency trainers who want:
- to enhance their facilitation skills for potentially difficult conversations
- to participate in a statewide network of cultural competency trainers
Days 1 and 2 (January 18, 19, 2018) Daily 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
- Participants begin by participating in discussions and activities designed to educate participants about culture and diversity. This session will be used as a model to demonstrate instructional design principles and facilitation strategies.
- Overview of Adult Learning Principles
- Application Segments with Feedback
Days 3, 4 & 5 (January 22, 23, 24, 2018) Daily 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
- Deeper into Adult Learning Principles: Learning and Instructional Strategies
- Facilitative Training Continuum
- The Experiential Learning Cycle
- Effective Use of Media
- Handling Difficult Training Situations
- Preparation for Individual Skill Practice
- Skill Practice – 30 minute delivery of a pre-designed training module.
Cost: $1000 per participant
Cost with Training DVD (Beyond the Vital Signs): $1500 per participant
- Payment must be received to reserve your spot
- 100% reimbursement if we are notified of cancellation at least 30 days prior to Day 1 of training
- 50% reimbursement if we are notified of cancellation at 7 days prior to Day 1 of training
- No reimbursement for cancellation notice that is less than 7 days
Upon registration you will receive a commitment form; this signed and completed form is due at least 7 days before the start of this training.
In the event of a snowstorm, the ‘make up’ day will be January 27, 2018.
