The Pathway To Citizenship Is Not Easy
The First Church is hosting a program sponsored by The NH Alliance of Immigrants and Refugees and the Granite State Organizing Project on the topic of immigration policy, the history of immigration in the U.S. and our current situation.
Topics include:
- Current history of immigration in New Hampshire and the United States
- The role of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement & Border Patrol in NH
- The stories of those affected here in New Hampshire
- How to stay informed and active regarding immigration issues
- Answers to questions you have about immigration policies
We seek to increase our knowledge and awareness so that we can informed citizens engaged in making our communities stronger, healthier and safer.
Primary Presenter Eva Castillo:
A native of Caracas, Venezuela, Eva Castillo has a long history of working with and advocating for immigrants. In 1984, Eva moved to New Hampshire, where she worked first at the NE Farm Workers Council, and later as at the Latin American Center in Manchester. She joined MIRA in 2007 as Director of the “NH Alliance for Immigrants and Refugees.” Eva’s tireless work to support immigrants with workers’ rights education, medical and legal interpreting and immigrant rights advocacy has granted her the community. Eva served as Police Commissioner in Manchester for six years and sits on the board or steering committees of several NH organizations and Government Councils.
Eva will be joined by staff from the Granite State Organizing Project (GSOP), the convener of the NH Immigrant Solidarity Network, who will share information about ways to get involved. The NH Immigrant Solidarity Network includes more than 50 faith communities from all across the state who are joined together to support immigrant families.
