Newmarket – Sangha Day

FreeSangha Day is an annual festival of Buddhist spiritual community, celebrated around the world.
Our morning will be dedicated to reflective meditation and a puja on the theme of friendship – from our present day connections back to the time of the Buddha. Friendship is a vital condition in the spiritual life, one might even say it is the whole of the spiritual life.
In the afternoon we will invoke our collective spirit to bring community theater into being. We will have a selection of stories from the Buddhist tradition ready to be shared with our contemporary interpretations. Props and scripts provided. If you’d like to help out with any of the pre-production work please be in touch by mid-October.
Program:
10-12 pm meditation and puja
12-1 pm vegetarian potluck lunch (please bring a dish to share)
1-3 pm community theater preparations and shenanigans
3:30-5 pm sharing our stories
