Join the AFSC New Hampshire program for our annual fundraising celebration!

The American Friends Service Committee’s New Hampshire Program will host its annual gathering on Friday, October 16, 2020. Join us online for I Will Not Conform, I Will Transform: Finding Joy in the Journey Towards Justice, an evening of conversation and community with guest speaker Eroc Arroyo-Montano, educator, artist, organizer and Director of Cultural Organizing at United for a Fair Economy. In dialogue with AFSC-NH’s new Program Coordinator, Grace Kindeke and event attendees, the evening will center on how we can bring healing, imagination and joy to ground and evolve our movement work.

The AFSC’s New Hampshire Program works with individuals, partner groups and coalitions to address the causes and effects of injustice in the state, with a special emphasis on strengthening the safety net for low-income people; reversing income inequality; promoting the rights and well-being of workers, tenants, prisoners, immigrants and refugees; ensuring access to safe, decent and affordable housing; and abolishing the death penalty. To support movement building, AFSC-NH engages in a variety of coordinated strategies to vitalize and nourish a large and growing movement of diverse people calling for social, racial and economic justice.

Eroc Arroyo-Montano
Director of Cultural Organizing, United for a Fair Economy

I am a proud father of three wonderful children, an emcee, circle keeper, artist, cultural organizer, educator, curandero and aspiring elder. I am a queer Boricua raised in Boston, MA and a founding member of the radical, award-winning hip-hop group Foundation Movement, with whom I have been blessed to facilitate workshops and perform around the globe. This has included Tanzania (where we performed at Black August), Kenya, Cuba (where we were honored to meet Assata Shakur), Palestine (where we performed at refugee camps), South Africa, and Japan (where we participated in a 72-day peace walk from Hiroshima to Tokyo). All of these experiences have and continue to deeply transform me.  

Healing justice, arts and activism, and popular education remain my passion, purpose and priority in my community liberation movement work, which I am able to develop, practice and facilitate in my current role as Director of Cultural Organizing at the grassroots economic justice organization United for a Fair Economy.

Grace Kindeke
AFSC-NH Program Coordinator

I am an artist, a dancer, and an activist earning a B.A. in Africana Studies and Sociology at UMASS Boston. I was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, immigrated to the U.S. as a toddler and grew up in Manchester, NH. In 2013 I moved to Boston where I strengthened my voice, performed from my ancestral roots and deepened my commitment to Black liberation, systemic justice and generational healing. In 2018 gentrification encouraged my husband and I to move back to New Hampshire. I am excited to bring my intersecting experiences and perspectives as an African, a woman and an immigrant to my work as AFSC-NH’s new Program Coordinator.
