WACNH Live! US-Iran Relations and the Global Pandemic

Due to the cancellation of all WACNH in-person events until at least August because of COVID-19, we are happy to be launching WACNH Live! This series of virtual events will feature several of our originally planned upcoming speakers, as well as a number of new ones, presenting on important international topics, straight to you at home.

While the world as a whole is grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic, tensions between the U.S. and Iran continue to escalate with the two countries pursuing conflicting interests in Iraq and the region. Iran has been among the countries hardest hit by COVID-19. What is the current situation in Iran, and how are they navigating both a devastating health crisis and the effects of simultaneous international economic sanctions? What questions should be driving U.S. diplomatic and strategic policy on Iran and in the region? What realistic policies should the U.S. pursue post-November?

On Tuesday, June 16th at 5pm, join us in hearing from intelligence expert Dr. Paul Pillar, formerly of the CIA and currently with The Iran Project. Dr. Pillar will be discussing these, and similar, issues, as well as a possible path forward. His talk will be followed by a Q&A from the audience. All questions can be emailed to council@wacnh.org or posted in either of the YouTube or Facebook Live chats before or during the event, so tune in here at wacnh.org and we hope to see you there!
