Webinar – One Year Later: Immigrant Trauma and How to Deal with It

November 9, 2017 @ 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM

One year since the presidential election, immigration rhetoric and policies have upended millions of lives. Register for One Year Later: Immigrant Trauma and How to Deal with It, a free webinar hosted by The Immigrant Learning Center Public Education Institute on Thursday, November 9, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. EST to learn how immigrants are being impacted and what you can do to support them.
Among those affected are refugees awaiting family members, skilled workers on temporary visas and long-time residents fearing rejection from their adopted homeland. Especially vulnerable are the children of immigrants suffering from increased anxiety and classroom disengagement. Educator and author Eileen Kugler and clinical psychologist Dr. Usha Tummala-Narra will offer strategies on how schools, neighbors and employers can support their immigrant students, coworkers and friends.

Attendees will Learn:

  • Latest immigration policies and the breadth of their impact
  • The destructive effects on immigrants, refugees and their families
  • Best practices to deal with this trauma at the personal, institutional and community levels

This free, interactive webinar is for anyone interested in immigrant and refugee issues, including social workers, advocates, counselors, teachers, policy experts, immigrant- and refugee-serving organizations, health care professionals, and state and city officials.
